Month 4 and 5 of not buying anything new for 6 months...

For the past few months I have been trying to buy only 1 new item a month.  It was meant to help me curb spending, save money, and (as I found out this month), evaluate my spending a little more, and conciously think more about what I am buying.  For me, the items I love to buy are clothes, shoes, and accesories.  But, you can really apply this to any area of shopping... ie, home furnishing, hunting equipment, hobby stuff... etc.

Month 4- April-  I did well.  I bought a new Twin's T-shirt at Target for the month.  And then I continued my not buying anything new.  I have continued allowing myself to thirft store shop.  Including my favorite "Salvation Army" Basement on North 4th street.  Which technically has new Target clothes in the basement.  But, this is a grey area in my rule!

Month 5- May- I bought a new scarf, tank, undertop, at my favorite store in Nordeast- Parc Boutique.  I consider this 1 item because I had a discount there.  But, again a grey area!   I bought a couple pieces of jewlery through Stella and Dot, and really fun jewlery line.   And that will have to be for June!

As you can see, April and May has been full of a lot of grey area!  I think the most difficult thing, has been that I really love fashion and buying all the "new" pieces.  But, one thing I found was that you can find something you really like full price, and then purchase it at a second hand shop for less!  Don't get me wrong, I think full priced items are great, and need to be bought to keep the market/economy going, but, in moderation.  Moderating your spending can be fun and allow you to be creative.  And of course, if you do not have the time to shop and "search."  You can always hire me!  You can contact me at:  shopformecynthia@gmail.com

Thanks for reading!  And Happy May!
